KV Ramakrishna is the Chief Executive Officer of Kotak Private Equity Group (KPEG). He joined the team in 2004. With over 22 years of experience in the private equity and venture capital industry, he is instrumental in building KPEG's investment focus with a value-based long-term investment strategy. Ramakrishna's experience spans sectors like information technology, light engineering, retailing and services. His controlled risk strategy has helped identify local businesses with interesting growth ideas and predictable cash flows.
Earlier, he was associated with the Carlyle Group's Carlyle Asia Venture Partners (CAVP), a USD 330 million technology-focused fund. Before joining Carlyle, he was a part of ICICI Venture, the private equity and venture capital arm of the ICICI Group. Ramakrishna started his career with the Management Services Division of Tata Motors (then TELCO), India's largest automobile company.
Ramakrishna has completed his Masters in Business Management from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore. He completed his graduation in Computer Sciences and Engineering from the National Institute of Technology at Warangal.

With the backing of the Kotak Mahindra Group ,one of India�s leading and highly respected diversified financial services institutions, Kotak Investment Advisors Limited (KIAL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited, focuses on managing the Alternate Assets business of the Group. While the Kotak Mahindra Group has been associated with private equity investments since 1997, to bring a sharper focus to the group's Alternate Assets strategy, Kotak Mahindra Bank initiated its first structured third party private equity fund in early 2005.
Since then, the Alternate Assets business of the Group has raised USD 1.5 billion for management across two asset classes namely - Private Equity & Realty Funds, both led by independent investment teams. In 2013, KIAL launched an Infrastructure Fund in collaboration with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation of Japan and Brookfield Asset Management of Canada.
